• 1978 was hired by a major forest products company as a Technical forester in East Texas.Duties included timber availability studies, chip trade accountability with forest products manufacturing facility, working with private non-industrial landowners, and assistance with company public relations in East Texas.  1981 began work as a Staff forester for the Louisiana Forestry Association working with private non-industrial timberland owners, and coordinating Tree Farm Program activities in the state, expediting tours and workshops for non-industrial timberland owners. 1987 hired to be Executive Director the local office of a national youth organization.  Duties included the management of staff and volunteers in 11 parishes of Central Louisiana. 1995 joined Baker Land & Timber Management, Inc. as co-owner and office manager.

• 1999 to 2014 worked for a consulting forestry firm that managed over 60,000 acres of timberland in Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Texas.  From 1999 to 2003 was a staff forester, responsibilities included, drawing up forest management plans; carrying out timber estimates and computing estimated volumes; carrying out marked timber sales, laying out streamside management zone & moist soil management zones; supervising operations on client property including boundary line maintenance, logging, post logging best management practices; worked with current clients; and tract inspections and reporting.  From 2004 to 2007, managed Contracting Division of the company as the Silvicultural Contracting Manger, responsibilities included writing site prep prescriptions (chemical and mechanical); supervising site prep work; pricing and supervising basal spray work; planting pricing, logistics, and supervision; contract cruising pricing, logistics, and supervision; and worked with potential clients.  From 2008-2014 was Vice-President, responsibilities included budgeting; job cost analysis; marketing; supervision of staff forester and staff technician; and continued running Contracting Division of the company. In 2014 joined the firm of Baker Land & Timber Management, Inc., responsibilities include GIS/GPS mapping/information work, drawing up forest management plans; maintenance of client files; carrying out timber estimates and computing estimated volumes; carrying out marked timber sales, laying out streamside management zone & moist soil management zones; supervising operations on client property including boundary line maintenance, logging, post logging best management practices work, site preparation (chemical and mechanical means), management of company tree planting jobs; contract cruising bidding, logistics, supervision, and reporting; tract inspections and report; working with current and potential clients of this firm.

1985 hired by the Federal land Bank in Northeast LA, trained in land appraisal and lending; managed and sold bank owned inventory. 1992 became an associate in a rural property appraisal/brokerage business (Colt James Properties), as the business evolved and matured the business name was changed to TrustLand and a partnership ensued; TrustLand operated as a full service land company sepcializing in appraisal, consulting, managing, acquisitions, mortgages, and brokerage of rural property.  Over the years a portfolio of rural properties and a  portfolio of land mortgages were assembled.  Today, I am partner in managing the capital assets of TrustLand through land acquisitions/sales and first mortgage real estate loans.  Now that Trustland has become a private equity investor offering no third party services, I have joined the sales team at Baker Agri-Forest Properties, LLC.  This will allow me to maintain my Louisiana License Real Estate Salesperson liscensee status and to continue offereing third party brokerage/consulting to clients.
